In Burgundy, Aligoté has long been overshadowed by Chardonnay. But in today’s world of unpredictable seasons and ever-changing vineyard conditions, the lesser-known white is gaining renewed attention for its ideal balance of crisp citrus and creamy, mineral characteristics. Robert Ledoux Bourgogne Aligoté will show you why.
The cuvée comes to us from winemaker Laurent Guillot, whose family have been based in the region for generations, and was made to honor his mentor, Robert Ledoux (hence the name).
Robert is a great wine collector with a deep passion for all things Burgundian, and also has an above average memory for the character of each vintage. So much so that he earned the nickname “The Great Vintage Hunter” among friends in the industry.
As you may guess, this wine does a good job translating the conditions of the year that produced it, which was quite a bit warmer and resulted in great quantity and quality of grapes. Expect bright, lively and balanced flavors of green apple, lime and ripe nectarine delivered across a nice creamy mouthfeel.
Delicious on its own, it’s also an all-star at the table, the perfect partner for everything from soft cheeses and salads, to fried chicken, center-cut pork chops and sushi.
