El Bombero 50th Aniversario 2017

But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

Flavor Profile
Javier Domeque is the No. 1 winemaker in Spain’s rugged Cariñena region, who is “making some of the best value wines in Spain” at Bodegas San Valero (critic John Radford). His regular El Bombero is one of our most-loved reds, so to say thank you, he’s crafted a special anniversary release.
For this limited-edition El Bombero, Javier selected the finest Tempranillo from his high-altitude vineyards, along with Garnacha from 30-plus-year-old vines (these gnarled heirlooms produce precious little fruit, but the grapes they do yield have deeply concentrated flavors). A splash of Cabernet Sauvignon completes the recipe, adding structure and black-fruit notes.
Six months’ barrel aging imparted hints of chocolatey spice to the wine’s luscious cherry, strawberry, and blackberry flavors. With its warming, smooth 15% alcohol, this is a serious treat on its own or with Spanish-style tapas.
Javier told us, “I wanted to make a wine with even greater opulence and complexity” – and he’s succeeded deliciously. This special release has everything we love about the regular El Bombero, with the flavor dial turned way up. Hurry for your chance to taste it.
