Vinha do Fava Reserva hails from Casa Ermelinda Freitas, one of Portugal’s most renowned family-run wineries, which was founded in 1920. Led by fourth-generation proprietor Leonor Freitas (who has been honored by the government for her service to the wine industry), the estate has won literally hundreds of major awards and 90+ point scores for its wines. And they make some of our customers’ absolute favorites, too...like this sumptuous Reserva.

Working closely with head winemaker Jaime Quendera, Leonor crafted Vinha do Fava to celebrate the estate’s 100+ year legacy. As you’d expect, they put great care and attention into every stage of the winemaking process. They selected the grape varieties on which the estate was founded—Castelão from their oldest vineyards, Touriga Nacional grown in their prized Fava vineyard and Alicante Bouschet, which is loved for its deep, dark charm.

As the finishing touch, Jaime treated the wine to eight months in fine French and American oak barrels.
