Scipione Giuliani makes some of our most popular Italian reds – so we can’t wait for you to taste his latest masterpiece. Uncle Zin honors Scipione’s ancestor Umberto, who took Italy’s power-packed Primitivo grape to California (where it’s now called Zinfandel). Scipione selected his ‘Zin’ grapes from ancient, low-yielding vines in southern Italy’s sun-drenched Salento district.
After harvest, he air-dried the grapes for weeks – the same appassimento method that gives Amarone its opulence. Finally, Scipione oak aged the wine, which adds vanilla-spice notes to the deep, luscious, black-fruit flavors.
