Tikohi Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Mouthwatering and exhilarating: it’s what you’re in for with Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, aka, New Zealand’s greatest contribution to the world of wine (so far!). Here’s an exclusive taste from Phil Rose, a Lifetime Achievement Award winner and wine pioneer, who helped lay the foundation for the ‘Golden Mile’ (the vineyard strip) more than 30 years ago.

‘Tikohi,’ a Maori word for ‘togetherness,’ references the tight-knit family culture you’ll get at Phil’s Wairau River Estate (and the harmonious wine you’ll get in the glass). Then there’s the critics on the international awards circuit – they’re certainly ‘together’ in their admiration for this stunning white. Top New Zealand critic Sam Kim even awarded a previous vintage 90 points (plus 4.5 out of 5 stars) and raved:

“Ripe, fragrant and inviting, the bouquet shows white stone fruit, crunchy apple, rockmelon [cantaloupe] and lime zest aromas, leading to a tasty palate that is filled with youthful fruit flavors. The wine is classically expressed and lingering, and offers excellent drinking.”

We think the 2020 offers equally “excellent drinking.” You’ll have to be quick to taste for yourself, though – New Zealand’s 2020 vintage was excellent, but painfully low-yielding, so there’s less wine than normal to go around.
