“Where the best olive trees grow, so do the best vines.” It’s common wisdom for winemakers in Spain – and is a maxim that holds especially true for Navarra’s acclaimed Pago de Cirsus, makers of this Chardonnay exclusive.
It’s crafted with grapes grown on gnarled, old vines in the estate’s special Bolandín vineyard, where a small dirt road bisecting the vineyard (called la senda de los olivos, or “path of olives”) leads to a grove of olive trees.
True to their world-class reputation, the Pago de Cirsus team really treated this wine with kid-glove care. After the grapes were carefully hand harvested and barrel fermented, they aged the wine in fine French oak barrels for a year – the resulting wine is a must-taste, especially if you’re a lover of Napa Valley’s traditionally rich Chardonnays.
What’s in store? Big, ripe flavors, balanced with a fresh, mouthwatering bite. Look for aromas of tropical fruits, mango and pineapple beautifully integrated with aromas of peach and vanilla. The citrus-spice palate leads to a persistent, buttery finish. Senda de los Olivos will pair deliciously with vegetarian dishes, as well as seafood, chicken, a variety of cheeses and more.
