With just 4% of Alsace’s vineyards classified as Grand Cru, this wine is an exceptional find, offering lush notes of citrus, stone fruit, green apple and pear. It showcases the region’s trademark acidity and stony/mineral character, plus a touch of smoke and hint of sweetness on the finish. Alsace is tucked along France’s eastern border and offers a fascinating blend of French and German influences. It's known for its stunning landscapes, distinctive architecture, unique cuisine and exceptional white wines. Maison Cattin is one of Alsace’s oldest family wineries and has crafted wine here since 1720, passing down expertise for 12 generations. Their Grand Cru Pfingstberg vineyards are planted on marl, limestone and gravel soils, which support an optimal environment for Riesling vines to grow—one in which the grapes maintain fresh acidity and develop complex flavors (both essential for crafting a high-end Riesling like this one). The vineyard is also certified HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale), France’s official sustainability certification, ensuring eco-friendly practices and biodiversity. Grapes undergo a gentle pressing, followed by aging in large traditional oak casks.
