Wine Flavor Profile
Portinho do Côvo Branco is a crisp dry white with expressive white blossom and lemon aromas, supported by hints of spice and mineral characters. The elegant, fresh palate delivers ripe, citrus-fruit flavors and a long, vibrant finish.
Beyond the Label

“Portugal very likely now offers some of the greatest wine values on the market today,” writes Wine Spectator’s Matt Kramer. And when you taste this dazzling modern white, you’ll see what he means.

Portinho do Côvo hails from the renowned Casa Ermelinda Freitas, whose fourth-generation proprietor, Leonor, has been awarded the title of Comendadora (aka knighthood) by the government for her service to the wine industry. Together with head winemaker Jaime Quendera, Leonor headed to their seaside vineyards on the Península de Setúbal, where brilliant sunshine and cool ocean breezes help the grapes ripen to perfection. They selected three native varieties – zingy Verdelho, aromatic Fernão Pires, and well-structured Antão Vaz – for this special cuvée.

The results have been impressive. A previous vintage of Portinho do Côvo won a double-gold medal from the China Wine & Spirits Awards – and we expect the fresh 2019 release to continue the tradition. With its expressive floral aromas and ripe, citrus-fruit flavors, it’s a vibrant match for white fish, lentil salads, and more.
