Beyond the Label

Where else can you find luxuriously barrel-aged, mature reds of this quality at such an everyday price?

Not only is today’s Spanish wine scene “among the most vibrant, dynamic, and creative in the world” (Tim Atkin, Master of Wine), it offers incredible value. This stunner is from Valencia and it’s on a serious winning streak. The last seven releases each scored major international golds and trophies, and this beauty adds a coveted gold medal from Mundus Vini.

Gran Reserva, after all, is the top tier of perfectly mature Spanish reds – and local star Maria Angeles Camara is a leading name in the Valencia region. She gave her prized Tempranillo an extended 30 months in barrel, which provides a soft edge of vanilla to the ripe, red-fruit core. Aromatic and smooth, it’ll shine with duck or lamb, strong cheeses, or tapas like jamón serrano. Decanting one hour before serving will really open up those silky, spice-kissed flavors.

Reds like this beauty represent some of the best values in wine – for now. Get in before the rest of the world catches on.
