Beyond the Label

Fifth-generation Rioja winemakers Victor and David Manzanos are set on continuing their family’s impressive, 125-year history of quality. We think they’re succeeding deliciously – and we’re not the only ones …

Their wines have landed on Harper’s prestigious “10X10 Rioja Top 100” list, and have scored ‘superior’ ratings from the likes of Jancis Robinson, Master of Wine.

For their 2011 Gran Reserva, los hermanos combined their finest Tempranillo (Rioja’s big star) with Graciano and Garnacha. Aged a full 36 months in top-notch French and American barrels (and after several years mellowing in the bottle), this positively ripples with ripe red fruit and warm vanilla-spice notes, along with a thread of delicate violet and dark chocolate flavor. Perfectly mature and drinking beautifully, it’s a great bottle to pop open when you’re serving roasted red meats, charcuterie and cheese, and more.

Fair warning: There’s strictly limited availability – so first come, first served.
