Our Bordeaux wine expert, Jean-Marc Sauboua, has enviable contacts across the region. After all, he grew up with the children of world-famous winemakers (now respected winemakers themselves) and trained at First Growth Château Haut-Brion. With the L’Épiphanie range, Jean-Marc sources exceptional wines from his friends at some of Bordeaux’s (and the world’s) most elite estates—for a fraction of what you’d pay for their regular releases. L’Épiphanie de Sauternes is Jean-Marc’s latest coup. The renowned region of Sauternes is nestled in the heart of Bordeaux and lies under a steady mist, where noble rot shrivels the grapes and concentrates their flavors into an exquisite nectar to yield the world’s most famous sweet wine. Sauternes is highly sought after all year long, but especially during the holidays when a chilled glass makes the perfect nightcap or dessert pairing. The finest releases, made by the Grand Cru Classé estates (only 18 exist), can demand over $200 for half-bottles. That’s what makes this exceptional Sauternes such a fantastic deal... L’Épiphanie de Sauternes hails from one of those prized Grand Cru Classé estates. The château is so famous that its name must remain a secret, as its regular customers would be furious to know the friends-only price you received. Aged in oak until the last round of tasting, this cuvée nearly made it into the estate’s Grand Vin. Lucky for you, Jean-Marc convinced them to share it with our customers instead. Bottled in a traditional half-bottle, the wine offers luscious layers of honeyed apricot and citrus, framed by notes of toasted nuts.
