J Opi Malbec 2018

Opi Sadler’s peers call him ‘The Magician’ thanks to his wizard-like touch with Malbec – we call him our best-selling, most-favorited winemaker. His signature Malbec announced him to the world (with great fanfare) after it won a big Decanter trophy a few years back, where judges hailed it as “mouthfilling, complex, and an amazing value.”

Here’s the next (delicious) chapter, which is made with grapes lovingly hand harvested from one of Opi’s favorite vineyards in Mendoza’s premium Maipú district, then treated to brief oak aging for extra complexity. Opi was especially thrilled, and tells us “2018 was the best vintage I’ve seen in 30 years of winemaking. Everything was perfect.”

Like its award-winning predecessors, the smooth 2018 release delivers trademark smoky, black-fruit flavor – this is the red to enjoy with a big steak. Critic James Suckling rated it 91 points, with this lip-smacking tasting note: "lovely soaked blueberry character, fresh herbs and spices. Light to medium body, fine tannins and a fruity, pretty finish."
