Hacienda de Lluna Merlot 2024

Flavor Profile
Often in the shadows, Valencia, Spain is an underrated region where some of the most exciting discoveries can be made. Case in point: Hacienda de Lluna Merlot––a youthful, silky, easy-drinking gem full of delicious red cherry flavor.
“There has been wine made in Valencia for several thousand years,” writes Decanter. “Strikingly, all these centuries later, the wines are not nearly as well known as they should be based on their quality.”
But perhaps that’s changing: Anecoop Bodegas, the parent cooperative to which this bottle’s producer (Bodegas la Viña) belongs, earned the prestigious title of ‘Best Producer in Spain’ at the 27th annual Mundus Vini Awards (it also took home a total of 37 medals—22 gold and 15 silver—for what it’s worth). This wine will show you why.
Winemaker Marta Martínez crafts the supple red with grapes grown in the elevated, sun-kissed vineyards just outside Valencia. The combination of warm, sunny days and cooling Balearic Sea breezes allows grapes to ripen with an ideal balance of ripeness and freshness. The resulting wine is youthful and fruit-driven, with mouthfuls of succulent red berries and fresh plums, perfectly capturing the essence of the region.
Smooth enough to enjoy solo––Hacienda de Lluna Merlot is also a superb match with chicken or red meats. Order your share of this juicy, plummy red today.
