Flavor Profile
Font del Victoire is a velvety Pinot Noir from southern France’s Languedoc-Roussillon region. A collaboration between the Gourdon family and award-winning winemaker Nicole McPheeters, it offers all the silky, red-fruit character that Pinot fans adore.
The vineyard that produces the wine is steeped in history and has a great story to ponder as you pour. It’s located just outside Béziers, close to an ancient Roman oppidum (fortified town) called Les Ensérunes, where evidence shows Romans planted vines and produced wine millennia ago. (Some things never change!)
Font del Victoire means 'fountain of Victoire' in the local Occitan language. It’s a tribute to owner Arthur Gourdon’s great-great grandmother, Victoire, who planted the estate’s first vines in the late 1800s (the vineyard also features an iconic fountain named in her honor).
The specific plot from which this bottling was made is around 40 years old. A lively garnet color, the wine has lovely aromas of raspberry, cherry and subtle hints of tobacco. On the palate, look forward to generous raspberry and cherry flavors with gentle tannins and a long, satisfying finish.
Though it’s a versatile complement to a wide variety of foods and flavors, our favorite matches for Font del Victoire are authentic French dishes such as grilled lamb, ratatouille and crispy duck confit, as well as roasted chicken and mushroom risotto.
