Flavor Profile
Established in 1745, Château Troplong Mondot is one of only 14 Premier Grand Cru Classé estates in Bordeaux’s prestigious Saint-Émilion appellation. Located at the region’s highest point, the estate and its 106 acres of vines benefit from complete sun exposure and incredible soil complexity, which result in wonderful depth of flavor, complexity and finesse in the wine.
The vineyards are tended with sustainable practices—including the use of plow horses to naturally improve soil structure and promote healthy vines—allowing the fruit’s natural purity to shine. And that’s exactly what it did in 2018, thanks to an ideal growing season. As Gavin Quinney wrote for JancisRobinson.com, “Bordeaux 2018 will be remembered as an exceptional year, with no shortage of outstanding wines from this extraordinary vintage.”
Showcasing the estate’s recent turn to a more refined style, the 2018 release blends Merlot (85%), Cabernet Sauvignon (13%) and Cabernet Franc (2%). Critic Antonio Galloni raved: “The 2018 Troplong Mondot will take readers who haven’t tasted these wines in a few years aback…I am blown away by the wine’s total sense of precision…Sweet red cherry, blood orange, mint, rose petal and lavender all build in the glass…regal, refined and absolutely exquisite.”
Though drinking beautifully now, Château Troplong Mondot 2018 will age gracefully for years to come. But don’t wait to secure your share—we have extremely limited bottles.
