Flavor Profile
Chardonnay ripens beautifully in the high-altitude vineyards of Mendoza in Argentina—producing rich yet beautifully balanced white wines like Alambrado Gran Seleccíon Chardonnay from familia Zuccardi.
The Zuccardis have been making wine in the country since the 1950s, pioneering the use of drip irrigation that transformed the quality of its entire wine industry. Or, as The Wine Advocate puts it, they “pursued quality when others were satisfied with quantity.”
Alambrado Chardonnay’s crisp peach character is delicious proof of the family’s expertise. It’s also a great introduction to the estate’s talented winemaker, Rubén Ruffo, who cut his teeth in Spain, Italy and France before setting his sights on Argentina. Finally landing in Mendoza, he’s headed the winemaking team at Zuccardi for 30 years now.
To craft Alambrado, Rubén selected grapes from only their best plots and avoided the use of oak to allow its sunny fruit flavors to shine. Look forward to tropical tones, orange notes and a long finish—a true benchmark Argentinian Chardonnay. (Pro tip: Partner it with seafood, white meats and pasta dishes.)
