We love finding wines with a smart “next door” story, but this one might top them all…
Vallino is the pride and joy of the Nuti family, who bought their first plot of land, La Regola, back in 1900. Four generations later, they’re still going strong, winning huge acclaim and proving they can pull their weight in a category packed with very big contenders. Le Regola lies just up the hill from the vineyards of Tenuta San Guido—home of legendary Sassicaia—the wine that launched the Super Tuscan style and propelled it to worldwide stardom.
All that fame usually comes with a hefty price tag, though. The most recent release of Sassicaia sells for $250+ a bottle, and their 2006 vintage sells for even more. That is, if you can find it.
By comparison, Vallino offers fantastic value. Our thirsty Italian wine fans are already snapping up the latest release, so when the family offered us a few cases of their beautifully mature 2006 vintage, our Italian expert quickly replied, “Send us everything you have!” And you’ll be very glad they did...
Crafted from organically grown Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and patiently barrel aged, Vallino is drinking beautifully with over a decade of age and will continue to develop. One sip and you’ll taste why it boasts 90 points from top critic Antonio Galloni and The Wine Advocate. Galloni wrote, “Bright, well-delineated dark fruit, flowers, minerals and menthol emerge from this juicy, intense red. Despite its approachable personality, this shows enough structure to develop positively in bottle for a number of years.”
Incredible drinking pleasure—at a fraction of the cost of its famous neighbors. Hurry for your share of our limited cases.
