Château La Clarière has been hailed as “the leading estate in Côtes de Castillon” by Decanter, and has won over 100 awards, including more than 20 golds and the exclusive Le Prix d’Excellence (which is given to only one estate in Bordeaux).
We’re especially thrilled to bring you their “Cuvée Anniversaire,” a library release from the historic 2012 vintage that’s wonderfully mature and drinking deliciously.
A TRUE CLASSIC
2012 was a true classic vintage for Bordeaux. The wines have elegance, structure, and lovely fruit, along with beautiful, come-back-for-another-sniff aromas. Light barrel aging knits these characteristics together beautifully in the glass.
JUST ENTERING ITS PRIME
It was a fantastic year for Merlot, which makes up 90% of the final blend, pepped up by the richer, spicier Cabernet. This superb balance helped it win gold in France’s top guide (plus a slew of medals at big international shows). Look for bright red currant fruit, with tobacco leaf, a hint of black currant, and gentle oak. There’s a remarkable freshness, with firm silky tannins. If possible, decant before serving, and remember: it’s a food wine—the tannins will melt beautifully onto your palate when matched up with rich, meaty dishes.
Not many cases to go around—you know what you need to do.
