14/27 Assyrtiko 2024

Flavor Profile
We love bringing you interesting wines from under-the-radar wine regions around the world. So we’re thrilled to introduce 14/27 Assyrtiko—a classic, mineral-fresh white from Greece that’s absolutely delicious. If you’re a fan of Sauvignon Blanc or Albariño, then you’ll really want to try this Assyrtiko.
“Assyrtiko is an excellent wine to pair with food, aided by its pronounced savory profile, stony minerality and citrus freshness. This unique Greek grape is rising from relative obscurity, with an insider cult following, to achieve a resonant new voice in the wine world,” says Decanter.
And we can’t think of anyone better to bring you a taste than Christos Vavatsis at Symposium Cellars.
For this thrilling white, Christos handpicks Assyrtiko grapes from vineyards grown in the unique red clay, mineral-rich soils of Nemea, in the northeastern region of the Peloponnese peninsula. Here, vineyards stretch up to 2,600 feet above sea level, giving the fruit plenty of sunshine to ripen during the day, and cooler nights to maintain Assyrtiko's trademark acidity and freshness.
Back in the cellar, Christos ferments the juice in stainless steel to allow Assyrtiko to really shine. The resulting wine has aromas of fresh citrus, white peach and green pear, plus a subtle hint of Greek herbs. On the palate, it offers ripe lemon and peach flavors, along with a delicate minerality and lively streak of acidity through the finish.
